Zedd - Clarity (Deluxe Edition)

Russian-German producer and DJ Anton Zaslavski (you probably know him by his stage name Zedd) has certainly been making a name for himself. In between his numerous tours and show stops around the world, he has been remixing songs, acting as producer for artists like Lady Gaga (he snagged some producer/songwriting credits in ARTPOP) and Justin Bieber, and has someone managed to find time to re-release a deluxe version of his only studio album to date, Clarity.

Clarity is a fantastic EDM album, and as a first release, it gives a really good introduction into the kind of music that Zedd makes. There’s nothing but electro-house, arena-like anthems that will be sure to get the masses moving like crazy.  From the second that the ticking starts (“Hourglass”), we’re entranced in his music until it stops (“Epos”). From the more theatrical side of EDM filled with strings and orchestral arrangements (“Shave It Up”), to stunning guest vocal spots from artists like Matthew Koma, Foxes, and Ellie Goulding (“Spectrum”, “Clarity”, and “Fall Into The Sky), it iss a well-crafted piece of work.

The original album is ten tracks, while the deluxe version comes loaded with a few additional tracks. The most notable of these new tracks is definitely “Stay The Night”, which features Paramore’s vivacious front-woman Hayley Williams on guest vocals. “Push The Night” featuring vocalist Miriam Bryant is another honorable mention on this record. Bryant’s voice fits in well with the track, and the drop is fantastic when it blasts out of your speakers.
