Hit The Lights - Summer Bones

After listening to this album several times through, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is not a damn thing wrong with it. Hit The Lights have made their first true masterpiece. Yes, I loved Skip School Start Fights as much as the next person; but it’s now my second favorite album from them. SSSF is my favorite album for sentimental purposes. But to me, not every song on that album was technically perfect. The band were still getting things started during that era of their career.

HTL have achieved absolute technical prowess and songwriting mastery on Summer Bones. Every song has its own unique identity and hits home harder than the last. “Fucked Up Kids” is going to be the summer anthem of 2015. “Revolutions and Executions” is easily one of the heaviest songs the band has ever put out. The title track slows things down, yet only for a brief moment before hammering back into the anthemic blend of soaring vocal choruses, crushing guitars, and sharp drums. I sincerely mean this: if you are a fan of pop punk, or even rock music, and you don’t have it yet, you really should. You’re missing out.

Now if I could just get my damn Epiphone guitar to sound like theirs.

Summer Bones by Hit The Lights is available now via Pure Noise Records.

This has been another Shameless Promotion.
