Quintino - EDC Orlando 'Artist To Know'

Our EDC Orlando pre-show coverage keeps rolling in!

Every year at Electric Daisy Carnival, some of the most epic moments are guaranteed to happen on the massive Kinetic Field stage that fans pack themselves in front of by the thousands. When it comes to epic moments on the dance floor, look no further than Quintino. If you've been to any kind of dance music festival this past year, there is a very good chance you have heard his song "Devotion" (listen below), and you know very well how crazy the crowd reacts when that saxophone hook kicks in.

I spoke with Quintino recently in regards to the mixing on "Devotion", his collaboration with Hardwell, what he'll be bringing to the EDC Orlando stage, and much more.

You put out a track called “Devotion” a little while ago. I’ve heard it on the dance floor in clubs and at several festivals recently, and it plays incredibly well. People lose their shit when this comes on! One of the most intriguing things in that track is the sound of saxophone that you mixed in. Was it difficult to mix that down so that it didn’t compete with the drums, but still created that epic dancefloor feeling?

That’s a funny thing because I used to play that track as a bootleg. I just made it for fun to play in my sets and eventually DJ’s kept asking and asking for the track ID. It was not very difficult to mix it down and the track went well! That was the moment when it became a release on Spinnin’ Records.

How did your relationship with Spinnin’ Records come about initially?

It all started when Laidback Luke discovered me at the same party. I played my set after him and he really loved it! We kept in contact and he helped me with my first releases. From that moment I got in contact with Spinnin’ Records to release my first tracks.

You just released the track “Scorpion (Hardwell Edit). What did Hardwell bring to the table for you as a collaborator on a track like this?

We released Scorpion on Hardwell’s own label Revealed Recordings. He did some editing work on the track to prepare it for release. We’ve bound this electro house anthem to tear the roof off and all I can say is that I’m very proud of our collaboration!

You’ll be playing EDC Orlando this weekend. With an event like this, fans are going to be having music, visuals, and other distractions thrown at them left and right. In your opinion, what do you think sets you apart from the artists on the bill, that will make people stop and go “guys, let’s hang here and check out this set!”

I would never say that I’m better than other DJ’s, but how I set myself apart from other DJs is always trying to be refreshing and not doing the same over and over. My tracks have a lot of energy but always with a twist to a new sound.

This is the last question I ask to every artist that I interview. It’s rather broad, but what does music mean to you?

Music can bring me to another world where I can feel on top of the world!

Be sure to catch Quintino at EDC Orlando this weekend when he takes the KINETIC FIELD stage THIS SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7 from 5:58 PM to 6:55 PM.
