Alternative/pop artist Allie X is getting ready to release a brand new album, Cape God, on February 21st, and is giving fans a taste of the new music and she unveils a brand new single. The song, “Devil I Know”, is the second track on Cape God. In a press release, Allie X goes in-depth surrounding the meaning behind the song:

“The lyrics to ‘Devil I Know’ follow my inner dialogue as I address my abuser directly. ‘Everytime I take your lead feels like a curse. Everytime I try to stop, feels even worse. Baby you’re the devil I know. Better than the devil I don’t...,” What the listener realizes as the song goes on, is that I am actually singing to myself as the perpetrator, inflicting all my own suffering. ‘I could scream somebody help me out. But the wicked one is me.’ This is a song about your own inner demons, how difficult it is to quiet them, and how easy it is to stay embraced in their arms.”

Thus far, “Devil I Know” is the fifth track from Cape God that Allie X has debuted ahead of its release, along with “Fresh Laundry”, “Love Me Wrong (featuring Troye Sivan), “Regulars” (for which she released a full music video), and “Rings A Bell”.

Allie X is also preparing a full-length headlining tour that kicks off on March 22nd in San Diego, and will wrap up on April 23rd in Los Angeles before she heads over to Europe and the UK.
