What To Know Before You Head To Aftershock Festival This Weekend

Tomorrow night, after months of anticipation, rescheduling, and delay amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Sacramento’s Aftershock Festival will make its long awaited return to Discovery Park in Sacramento, CA, for a weekend filled with some of the biggest names in heavy metal and punk rock, ranging from Metallica, The Original Misfits, Mudvayne, The Offspring, Rancid, and so many more.

Before heading out to the festival, there are a few things that you should know before making the trek out to Discovery Park. See below for some tips on attending the biggest rock festival in Northern California this year.

First things first: Aftershock Weekend Passes Are Sold Out.
That’s right! All weekend passes for Aftershock are sold out. If you were planning on going and buying tickets at the box office or the morning of the show, you’re out of luck this year. However, there are a select number of single day tickets available, in very limited quantities. If you want to attend one day of the festival, you can click here, but act fast.

There is no parking at Aftershock.
Yes, you read that correctly. There is no on-site parking at the festival. Ride share programs are always an option (Lyft, Uber, etc.) but the festival is allowing attendees to purchase “Park & Ride” Shuttle Passes to each day of the festival. There are still a number of options available prior to tomorrow’s start, so click here to secure yours and prepare accordingly for travel time.

You MUST be vaccinated OR provide a negative COVID-19 test to enter the festival.
Safety is the number one priority for any event, and this year is no exception. With the COVID-19 pandemic still going on, and rising cases occurring throughout the country, Aftershock is requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test in order to enter the festival grounds. You can click here to find out more information surrounding the procedures required for entering the festival grounds (there’s a thorough description of FAQs regarding vaccination status and COVID testing on their website). Face masks will also be required in any indoor areas, and strongly requested to be worn outdoors. Make sure you secure the proper face mask and plan accordingly before showing up.

The lineup has changed a bit.
Prior to the start of the festival, a number of lineup changes have occurred, and we’ve been seeing some people are finding out about the lineup changes as of just a couple days ago. We have provided a full lineup below (as well as a link to the set times and stage lineups for each date), but note that the original Saturday night headliners, My Chemical Romance, have pushed all of their tour dates to 2022 and will not be in attendance at this year’s festival. The slot is being filled by a rare appearance from The Original Misfits (featuring Glenn Danzig, Doyle, and Jerry Only). Additionally, the Thursday night show will be headlined by Cypress Hill, as both Limp Bizkit and Faith No More have dropped off the bill. You can click here to view the official set times for each date of the festival so you know when and where your favorite band hits the stage.

Your backpack will need to be clear, per new guidelines, to enter the festival.
This has become somewhat of a new norm for concerts over the last few years, even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Aftershock has put several requirements into place regarding the kinds of backpacks, drawstring bags, and purses that fans can bring into the festival grounds. You can refer to the diagram below to see what you can and cannot bring in. You can click here for a more thorough list of all items that are allowed in.

Finally: Your Wristband Is Your Ticket. Do Not Lose It.
This mainly applies to attendees going for the entire weekend. By now, you should have received your wristband for the festival, which will act as both your ticket and (if you set it up when you register) your form of contactless currency throughout the weekend. This is what will help you get into the festival and purchase food and merchandise, so make sure that you keep it on all three or four days you attend.

If you have ticketing issues, head to FrontGateTickets.com or head to the box office with your ID and order confirmation number as soon as possible. Plan to arrive early if you are having any issues so you can get things sorted as quickly as possible.

Have fun!
This one’s self explanatory. Stay safe, and have fun this weekend.
