Metallica Release New Song and Music Video, "If Darkness Had A Son"

Ahead of the release of their eleventh studio album, Metallica has unveiled another brand new song from 72 Seasons. The track and music video, titled “If Darkness Had A Son”, is available now, and follows the release of “Screaming Suicide” and “Lux Aeterna”.

72 Seasons will be released on April 14th, 2023 through the band’s own Blackened Recordings. The album was produced by Greg Fidelman in coordination with vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, and it is the band’s first new album of material since the release of 2016’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. Pre-order the album here.

The band has also announced that tickets are on sale now for a worldwide listening party that will be taking place in movie theaters for one night only on April 13th, 2023. Fans will get the chance to experience the band’s new album in its entirety the night before its official release, along with exclusive videos and commentary (with a Dolby Atmos mix in select theaters).
