Christopher The Conquered - I'm Giving Up on Rock and Roll

Christopher The Conquered
I'm Giving Up On Rock and Roll
Producer: Patrick Tape Fleming
Label: Maximum Ames

I'm going to sum this up in the best way possible. Namely, I'll sum this up in the way that Ryan Adams (yes, that Ryan Adams) described the debut album from Christopher The Conquered: "he is the real deal. This is a crazy, amazing record."

I honestly can't put it in any other words. The influences of singer-songwriters that have dominated the piano and microphone over the years (Billy Joel, Elton John, Ben Folds) can welcome a new member into that family. "I'm Giving Up On Rock & Roll" is the debut full-length album from Christopher, and it's one that shows off his unbelievable voice, piano-playing ability, and chops as a songwriter. The album spans nine tracks, and while we're left wanting more at the end of it, nine is a perfect amount. It gives us everything we want as a listener, yet it leaves us hoping that there's a tenth track.

Fun fact to close this review: Christopher mapped out the entire record and had such a clear vision for it that when he hit the studio with the producer to record it, the entire album was cut to tape in only nine days. Your move, Sir Elton.
